The emergency department at the Chesley hospital will be closing for 8 straight weeks due to a critical shortage of nurses.
As of Friday the emergency department will be closed, not reopening until Friday December 2nd.
The inpatient unit, community lab collections and diagnostic imaging services in Chesley will remain open and operational.
During this closure, the South Bruce Grey Health Centre will be evaluating the level of service which can be safely provided at the organization’s four sites which also includes Durham, Kincardine and Walkerton in the long term with what staffing resources are available.
Active recruitment is ongoing with the health centre with the pool available being very limited in the current environment.
