CERB Payments Extended By 8 Weeks

The Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB) will be extended by eight weeks
That’s two additional months of taxable $2,000 payouts
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says the support will be extended to those who still can’t work.
Previous to the extension, there was a 16 week eligibility period for the $2,000 dollar a month payment for a 4 month total of $8000.
The $2,000 monthly benefit has been applied for by more than 15 million Canadians, with a total payout of $42 and a half billion.
A draft bill on the CERB extension had required applicants to be actively looking for work and not turning down “reasonable” employment opportunities. That bill did not pass.
