CERB Comes To An End For Many Canadians

Canadians receiving the CERB benefit over the last few months to provide economic relief during the pandemic saw their benefits expire this past weekend.

On Saturday the Emergency Response Benefit ended meaning recipients of the 37 billion dollar program will have to transition to the updated Employment Insurance Program.

It has been altered to accommodate Canadians who are not necessarily eligible for unemployment but because of COVID-19 cannot return to work.

Under new “working while on claim” rules, people can receive part of their benefits and all of their earnings from a job to encourage people to go back to work.
