The Fire Chief of Centre Wellington is calling it a career after 38 years.
Brad Patton’s official last day is May 28th but with several weeks of vacation time to use up before that time he’ll likely be hanging up his gear sometime in April.
Patton started his fire career out in Flaborough in 1983 which is now the Hamilton Fire Department.
In 1988 he became Captain there, in 94 Assistant Deputy Chief and in 98 he became chief.
He’s been in Centre Wellington since 2003 as Chief overseeing a force of 66 volunteer firefighters, captains and 5 full time staff.
Patton hasn’t announced what he has in store for his retirement but in the short term will take some time off and just relax.
