Centre Wellington council has approved the demolition of a heritage building at 19 Mill Street East in Elora.
The site is being demolished to make way for a five storey building with 18 condo units and 21 underground parking spaces as well as commercial units at the ground level.
Demolition was approved due to the deterioration of the brick building including water damage, termites and the foundation being compromised.
A 2nd heritage building on the property will be partially torn down.
While both buildings do have heritage value, they do not remain in good enough condition to consider further protection.
