Catholic Teachers call for immediate action to protect schools

OECTA says Premier and Ed. Minister have failed to ensure stronger health measures in schools

The Ontario English Catholic Teachers Association (OECTA) released a letter today calling on the Ford government and public health units to immediately prioritize the vaccination of teachers, education workers and other essential workers particularly in hot spot public health units.  They also ask that all of those regions move in-person to virtual learning until the process is complete.

They say medical experts have repeatedly called for implementation of stronger health and safety measures including smaller class sizes, better ventilation and widespread testing.

They call out Premier Ford and Minister Lecce for promising more robust  health protocols but consistently failed to follow through.

OECTA represents 45,000 teachers in Ontario’s public funded English Catholic Schools from Kindergarten to Grade 12.
