Cannabis Act Search Warrant Executed in Fergus

4300 plants worth $4.3 million seized as well as $250 worth of processed cannabis

This morning Wellington County OPP COmmunity Street Crime Unit executed a Cannabis Act search warrant at a commercial property on Glengary Crescent in Fergus.

Members of the Wellington County OPP CSCU, Wellington County Crime Unit and uniform officers with assistance of Huron Perth and Grey Bruce CSCU’s, the Provincial Joint Forces Cannabis Enforcement Team, the OPP Provincial Asset Forfeiture Unit and the West Region OPP Support Unit seized over 4300 plants worth approximately $4.3 million dollars as well as $250,000 worth of processed cannabis.

A large quantity of Canadian currency was also seized.

The County of Wellington Roads Department assisted the OPP with the disposal of the cannabis while the Electrical Safety Authority and Centre Wellington Fire and Rescue conducted their own independent investigations.

The following individuals are charged under the Cannabis Act with Cultivate, Propagate or Harvest Any Cannabis Plant That is Not Their Dwelling House or Offer to do so and Possession for the Purpose of Selling.

A 40 year old resident of Aurora

A 30 year old resident of Gwillimbury

The accused are scheduled to appear before the Ontario County of Justice in Guelph on July 27th to answer to the charges.
