The Canadian Country and Folk Music world lost an icon yesterday with the passing of singer Ian Tyson.
He was best known for songs such as “Four Strong Winds” and “Someday Soon”.
He performed with his wife Sylvia Tyson with them first joining up in 1959, becoming a full-time duo in 1961 and marrying in 1964.
They divorced in 1975.
From 1970 to 1975 he hosted “The Ian Tyson Show” on CTV.
He was inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame with Sylvia in 1992, received the Order of Canada in 1994, and a Governor General’s Performing Arts Award in 2003.
He released 17 albums in his career, and 33 singles.
Tyson was 89.
