Canadian Athlete of the Year announced.. and it’s a TIE!

It's only the third tie in the Awards 82-year history

And Canadian Athlete of the Year award has been announced.

The winner or winners as is the case this year with the award going to Kansas City Chiefs Offensive Lineman Laurent Duvernay Tardif and Bayern Munich soccer player Alphonso Davis.

The award is as much for Tardif’s off field accomplishments as his on. In February he was blocking for Patrick Mahomes in front of 100 million at the Superbowl and barely a month later he was on the front lines of the Covid-19 pandemic in his native Quebec.

Davis became the youngest player to win a Champions League mens soccer title this year.

He was also named Bundesliga rookie of the year by fans, competing clubs and the media. ESPN ranked Davis as the second best left fullback in the world.

This is the third tie in the 82 year history of the award presented annually by the Toronto star.
