Statistics Canada says the annual pace of inflation for October rose 4.7 per cent.

Stats Canada says it was the largest year over year gain in the consumer price index since 2003.

Factors for the increase include snags in supply chains and the leap at the pumps. The price of gas drove up 41.7 per cent when compared with October 2020, marking the fastest increase since May.

Excluding energy prices, Stats Canada says the price index would have been up 3.3 per cent.
