Call for Four Way Stop on Krotz St W and Wallace

Concerned citizens made their voices heard in town council this past Monday night. North Perth Town Council was made aware of the dangerous intersection of Krotz St. West and Wallace Ave South in Listowel and how it should be a 4 way stop – not a 2 way.

Concerns this past summer with drivers going way beyond 50km per hour resulting in close encounters with young children who were playing on their front lawns.

Citizen Brenda Dumond mentioned students are back in school and with some changes in routes results in longer walks and that alone causes even more concern at this intersection.

“They have to walk a kilometer out of their way. They have 5 additional road crossings which adds risk to their walk and then they walk back down to Krotz St to get to school. The biggest concern around here is that kids are going to be tempted to want to cross here because who wants to walk that far out of their way to get to school?” said Dumond.

45 households in the area near the intersection all signed a petition to bring better light on this situation. Council said there are currently short term solutions such as posted speed limits with a flashing sign with hopes to get a long term solution soon.
