After serving the community for more than 26 years, Browns Fish and Chips will be closing.
October 28th will be the final day of the chip stand just between Listowel and Gowanstown.
The decision to close has come as the land they use for the stand is being purchased by the landlords son with a plan to expand and given the age of the trailer it can’t be moved.
Beverly Brown with Browns says while it is sad to close shop, she is looking forward to enjoying time with family.
“We closed the first one because my daughter was pregnant, had the 2nd baby 10 months later and here we are 28 years later and those babies are having babies so I’ll be able to spend sometime with them” said Brown.
Brown adds it might yet be the final chapter just yet as she and her daughter might have plans for a smaller scale operation but would still be a ways away to get plans in place.
