The Grand River Conservation Authority has found blue-green algae in Conestogo Lake.
The GRCA in a release says while the beach area and boat launched have closed for the season, they have still notified the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks as well as the local health unit with signage being posted.
Park visitors are asked to exercise caution such as keeping children and pets away from the algae, avoid contact, don’t eat fish from the lake and don’t use the water for drinking or any other purpose.
The conservation authority adds previous confirmed blue-green algae blooms at Belwood lake and Woolwich reservoirs are still present.
