On February 13th, 16 year old Autumn Lancaster was forced to take immediate action when her grandfather, and Minto Councilor Ed Podniewicz was injured by a flying rock while driving his vehicle.

Ed was driving with her granddaughter when a softball sized rock flew through the window of his truck and hit him.

Autumn was able to use a cloth to apply pressure to the injury, call 911 and drove the hospital. Minto Mayor Dave Turton says her actions showed true bravery.

“Despite the fear and panic she must have felt, Autumn showed great bravery and acted decisively, ensuring the best possible outcome for her grandfather” said Turton.

Lancaster was presented with a certificate of recognition for her response to the incident and her actions.
