The Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority has closed the Disc Golf Course located at Clinton Conservation Area.

The 9-whole disc golf course was created back in 2016 by the Clinton Lions Club as they managed the Clinton Conservation Area through a partnership with the Conservation Authority.

In 2021 the Lions Club disbanded, resulting in the end of the partnership.

Reasons for the closure were provided in a July 20th Board of Directors Meeting by the ABCA.

They include discs being thrown across paths regularly used by park users, near structures like the washrooms, the children’s playground, and covered pavilion area.

A report by a Fluent Disc Sports indicated a cost of $6,700 to rectify the safety issues.

A decision was approved to remove the disc golf course from the Clinton Conservation Authority.

Notices of the closure were posted in late July at the site of the course.

The full details of the decision and reasons behind the closure are available below.
