Typically grade 10 students must complete the Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test in order to graduate and receive a diploma.
This year however the Ministry of Education has scrapped the requirement for this year.
The Avon Maitland District School Board has decided following the ministries announcement they will not be participating in the literacy test to prioritize the well being and safety of students during the pandemic.
The school board plans to fully participate the literacy test next year.
