The Avon Maitland District School Board reported at this week’s meeting that thanks to reduced spending and revenues increased the board is looking at a $4.3 million dollar surplus.
Cheri Cater, Superintendant of Corporate Services at AMDSB attributes it to multiple possible factors including remote learning or families moving to the area, both factors which increase provincial funding.
The inability to hire required support staff and supply staff has also contributed to less expenses then they would be seeing normally last year.
Carter noted that even in light of the surplus, future years cannot report a deficit in order to equal it out.
