Over $1.7 million in federal and provincial support has been provided for net new supportive housing units for youth experiencing homelessness in Wellington County and Guelph.
Those with the feds and province as well as Wellington County, City of Guelph, Wyndham House and other community partners took part in an open house at the Welcome 2 Waterloo project.
The project will bring the affordable units with the three remaining units being prioritized for youth who are pregnant and parenting or leaving situations of intimate partner violence or human trafficking.
Warden Chris White says by providing 24/7 wraparound supports and a safe place to call home, these young residents will have the resources and supports the need to succeed.
