10 people were rescued on Canada Day after the storm blew through into Guelph Lake.
At 5:09pm, emergency crews were called for a water rescue at the Guelph Lake Conservation Area after two paddleboarders were in distress.
Crews got onto the water finding two individuals, one clinging to a kayak and another in open water on the opposite side of the island.
During the initial rescue, crews found several others stranded in multiple locations brining back a total of 10 people to the main dock.
The Guelph Fire Department is reminding residents to be prepared for a rapidly developing storm including to wear a properly fitted lifejacket, check weather conditions before and during water activities and return to shore if severe weather is approaching.
