The City of Stratford has responded to encampments within the community, including near the Downie Street parking lot.
The social services department continues to work directly with individuals at these locations to support safety and well being while helping towards permanent, appropriate housing.
The work is also supported with the City’s encampment response process bringing together a number of municipal departments including Social Services, Police, Fire, Infrastructure and Development Services, Community Services and Building and Planning.
The city says their goal is clear, reduce chronic homelessness and ensure more people have access to safe, supportive, stable and appropriate housing.
