The installation of buoys and booms is underway across reservoirs and waterways with the Grand River Conservation Authority.

The booms and buoys are key safety feature for the conservation authority with them placed upstream of GRCA owned dams to alert paddlers, anglers and boaters to stay away.

The work is expected to be finished by mid-May.

Dams can pose a serious hazard which can result in serious injuries or even death if the warning signs are ignored.

Katelyn Lynch, Director of Water Infrastructure says the GRCA maintains a robust dam safety program to educate the public about the danger around dams.
