As the weather changes gear, it becomes yet another busy season ahead for the Humane Society of Stratford-Perth and Kitchener-Waterloo as kitten season begins.
Spring is the typical kickoff time for “kitten season” lasting up to early fall when a big increase is seen of kittens and pregnant cats arriving shelters needing urgent care.
To help the humane society fund medical treatment, food, foster care and staffing a line of Kitten Season branded merchandise is up for grabs.
Kaleigh Siegner-Robertson, Coordinator, Marketing and Communications for the Humane Society says for them kitten season can see all kinds of avenues of needs.
“Especially with pregnant cats if there are a stray we tend to need a place for them to feel safe and warm so that can involve needing fosters to take the cats in so they can deliver their kittens in a quiet and warm environment and focus more on becoming a mom.” said Siegner-Robertson.
The Humane Society is also preparing for this years Meowmosa event in St Jacobs on May 9th which includes bottomless mimosas, brunch and a unique way to support the humane society.
