The Grand River Conservation Authority is up next to issue a water safety statement given the change of temperatures this past week.
With another 5-15mm of rain forecasted today water levels and river flows expected to stay elevated into next week as runoff moves across the watershed.
Much of the river system is still ice covered and has the potential for ice jams to form.
The Conservation Authority says the ice on local rivers and other water bodies can be very unsafe as the ice can break easily and shouldn’t be used for any winter activities.
The statement will remain into effect until March 5th.
