Winter has not really let off the gas this time around including last week where highway closures and a series of accidents were all around.
Emergency services were regularly on the roadways responding to accidents, abandoned vehicles and hazards making for a hectic time on the highways.
Firefighters in North Perth were no exception keeping busy on Thursday and Friday helping those in accidents while also working in zero visiblity conditions.
North Perth Fire Chief Janny Pape says zero visibility should be enough sign to not be on the roads, but doing so can also hinder emergency crews on a scene.
“On Thursday and Friday we we’re working in zero visibility conditions, so just imagine trying to assist someone in a vehicle collision and a vehicle driving right through that scene. First responders need to be able to focus on the job they’re doing and not be distracted or in danger of someone driving through the scenes. ‘ said Pape.
Pape says there were a few times on Friday where they had to return to their vehicles for their safety, urging those always to drive according to the conditions and never drive on a closed road.
