A Rockwood resident has lost $5000 after being the victim of a grandparent scam.
On November 15th at around 12:15pm, Wellington County OPP responded to a report of fraud which took place at home in Rockwood at around 1pm the day prior.
An unknown person contacted the victim pretending to be their son saying they were in police custody.
A second person then joined the call claiming to be a lawyer and needing a cash bond of $5000.
An individual then went to the victims home and tried to collect the cash and then the victim later found out they had been scammed.
The suspect is said to be a man identifying themselves as Ahmed driving an older model white Honda CRV.
