The annual fall removal of safety booms and buoys with the Grand River Conservation Authority has started.

The booms and buoys are installed each spring upstream of GRCA dams on navigable waterways to alert paddlers, anglers and boaters to stay away from the dams.

The removal is expected to be completed by October 31st depending on weather conditions.

This removal is needed since the buoys and booms would be damaged or displaced if left in the water over the winter months.

The GRCA continues to warn users dams can pose serious hazards which can result in injuries or death if warning signs are ignored.
