The Town of Minto and Wellington County have opened a new community food pantry at the Palmerston Branch of the Library.
This now marks the third pantry in Minto, joining Harriston and Clifford.
The community pantries act as a new approach to fight food insecurity without an application or appointment needed with residents welcome to take what they want, when they need it.
Minto Mayor Dave Turton says whether someone is in need or wants to give, its all happening in the welcoming space of our local library branches.
According to the Guelph-Wellington Poverty Task Force, 22 per cent of households in the community are dealing with food insecurity.
