Wellington County OPP have received an increase of calls for help of dogs being left in hot vehicles over the summer.

OPP say even if you have your windows cracked, the temperature inside a car can soar in just a few minutes and create a fatal environment for your pet.

Local bylaw charges for such an offence can be $360 for a first offence.

Dogs aren’t able to regulate heat like humans and heatstroke can settle in quickly.
