With the support from the Canada Water Agency, the Upper Thames River Conservation Authority kicked off the Upper Thames Phosphorus Reduction Program in fall last year.
This program helped reduce a level of phosphorus reaching Lake Erie.
The conservation authority says while there are many ways phosphorus enters the environment, one of the most challenging is managing runoff from rain events especially in large rural and agricultural areas.
The first year of the program was a success with over 595 on the ground projects across more than 35,000 acres.
