The Special Investigations Unit has discontinued its investigation into a crash between an OPP cruiser and snowmobiles back in February in Wingham.
On February 17th, Huron County OPP received a report that South Bruce OPP had closed the southbound lanes of London Road due to whiteout conditions.
An officer was called to assess road conditions from the south end of London Road with closure signs in place and while pulled over with lights activated to help a vehicle in a ditch a snowplow struck the rear of the cruiser which pushed it forward into two people who were beside their snowmobiles.
SIU Director Joseph Martino was satisfied the investigation should be discontinued as it was apparent the officer did nothing to attract criminal liability in connection with the injuries.
