Two Hanover Police officers suffered injuries from a dog attack in an arresting incident.

On May 6th at around 8;15am, Hanover Police responded to the 500 block of 7th Avenue for a dispute between a tenant and a building manager of an apartment building.

Investigation determined a 35 year old man was wanted by police for various crimes who was arrested but was able to go to his apartment to secure his Cane Corso dog.

At the suspects door, the man resisted and tried to escape into the apartment with a struggle ensuing with the officers attacked by three Cane Corso dogs with the man and his girlfriend making no attempt to stop their dogs.

Both officers were taken to hospital for their injuries with the man and woman fleeing the scene.

Shortly after 4pm, the suspects girlfriend a 30 year old of Hanover was arrested and the dogs taken into care by animal control.

The 35 year old man remains outstanding facing charges of Aggravated Assault of a Peace Officer, two counts of Assault of a Peace Officer, two counts of Assault with Intent to Resist Arrest and Escape Lawful Custody.

It’s believed he is in the GTA.

The 30 year old woman has been charged with Accessory After the Fact and Obstructing a Peace Officer who was released after a bail hearing and will appear in Walkerton court.

Both officers were later released from hospital with one officer sustaining significant lacerations which may result in some extended recovery time.
