Due to ice jams, Maitland Conservation has issued a Flood Watch for all municipalities in the Maitland and Nine Mile River watersheds.
While most smaller streams over the watershed are ice free there are signs of ice jams in larger river reaches.
Jams have been reported on the Lower Maitland River near Wingham, South Maitland River near Summerhill and the Nine Mile River in Port Albert.
Ice jams are unpredictable and can form, shift, worsen or breakup suddenly.
Municipal officials are encouraged to check low lying roads and infrastructure.
The public is reminded conditions around watercourses are hazardous.
