Huron-Perth Public Health has now identified six cases of measles across Huron and Perth and with more cases pending lab results.

All cases have been connected to an ongoing outbreak in the Southwestern Public Health and Grand Erie Public Health regions.

As a result, public health has deemed Huron and Perth Counties as areas of concern for measles.

The virus is airborne and can remain in the air and on surfaces for up to two hours.

Public health is strongly recommending residents to make sure they and family members are up to date with measles vaccinations.

Someone who has measles can be contagious from four days before the rash starts to four days after the rash starts.
