March is fraud prevention month and OPP are making sure residents stay clear of scams and becoming another victim.
Since January 1st, Huron County OPP have responded to 72 fraud related calls.
Tips offered by police include to never let anyone pressure you into acting immediately, never provide personal information to someone you don’t trust, hang up a call or leave a website if you feel uncomfortable and never send money to people you don’t know.
Often times scams will ask for money transfers, gift cards of Amazon, Google Play or iTunes or cryptocurrency such as Bitcoin and it can be a clear red flag to hang up the call.
