Minto Deputy Mayor Jean Anderson says there should be more support for the homeless and those on low income for mental health resources across Wellington County.

A report on Tuesday in council by David Anderson on the issue was delivered where Jean Anderson sounded off pointing out many shortfalls across the area.

Jean Anderson made note of Here 24, a service which offers mental health counseling but is understaffed while also saying shelters across the county are also missing.

“That’s been my plea forever, in the city they do but in the county we do not and we don’t have a shelter. We have no shelter in Wellington County for anybody except for the Women’s Shelter which is run by volunteers in Elora. We have nowhere for somebody to go and that needs to be fixed.” Anderson.

Mayor Dave Turton expressed his appreciation to both David and Jean for their work on what he says was an interesting conversation.
