Deputy Premier and Minister of Health Sylvia Jones was in Palmerston on Thursday with an announcement of the Practice Ready Ontario program aimed to break barriers for 100 internationally trained family physicians to practice medicine in a rural of northern community in 2025.
The program, launched in 2023 allows more internationally trained physicians into the Ontario health care workforce by removing the requirement to complete re-education programs.
This program has already seen local benefits, with the hiring of Dr. Narah Luzinga to the Minto-Mapleton Family Health Team.
