One person has been arrested who were found to be using a grandparent scam targeting seniors across Canada.
On April 18th an investigation dubbed Project Sharp consisting of 11 Ontario and Quebec Police services wrapped up their 15 month investigation against individuals defrauding victims of their money.
Seniors with landline phones were targeted believed to be an officer or a lawyer saying the victims grandson was in custody with bail money being requested.
On October 9th a 24 year old of Waterloo was arrested and charged with Fraud Over $5000, Participation in a Criminal Organization and Commission of Offence for Criminal Organization.
The accused will appear in Ottawa court next month.
