Over 1 Million Ontarians Visit Food Banks in the Last Year

Feed Ontario says over 1 million people visited food banks across the province in the last year.

The report showed the number of visits has leaped 134 per cent since 2019-2020 to 7.6 million.

The blame on the increase of food bank visits is all at the rapid increase cost of living with incomes not keeping up with the cost of food, housing and other necessities.

Feed Ontario CEO Carolyn Stewart says food bank use has only continued to climb as more Ontarians find themselves struggling to make ends meet.

69 per cent of food banks across Feed Ontario’s network fear they might not have enough food to meet the rising demand with 53 per cent saying they do not have enough funding.
