Mapleton is looking at regulating short term rentals in the township.
The towns planning department presented a draft bylaw on regulating short-term rental accommodations which includes a list of rules for number of guests, fire safety, insurance, licensing and municipal fees.
Planners have been looking over the managing STRA’s since 2021 after the province announced more rental accommodations were granted as-of-right zoning which means owners only need a building permit to create rental accommodations on their property.
Council was torn on the topic which ultimately resulted in staff being directed to get a public meeting done to get feedback from residents.
