Centre Wellington has chosen to not opt in for retail cannabis stores in the township.
Council voted on Monday to opt out of hosting mainly over concerns of provincial legislation which limits the setback from schools to just 150 meters.
One councilor in favour to opt-in, Bronwynne Wilton says the public clearly wants retail cannabis stores with two surveys done showing strong support.
Wilton also made a point of alcohol and alcohol advertising being around the area saying its hypocritical to allow one but not the other.
Staff has been directed to monitor provincial rules as the topic could be revisited in the future.
