Perth East has approved their 2024 budget.
Approved by council on January 9th, the budget has $20 million in total expenditures and capital of $10.5 million.
Part of the budget includes the following;
- Arsenic Treatment Project – Shakespeare Water System (partial funding from ICIP – Green Stream Funding $1,063,713)
- Road Reconstruction – Fulton Street in Milverton from Main Street North to Mill Street East (including Roads/Storm Sewer/Water/Wastewater) (partial funding from Ontario Community Infrastructure Formula Funding $1,158,890)
- Road Reconstruction – Whaley Ave in Milverton from Fulton Street to CPR Drive (including Roads/Storm Sewer/Water/Wastewater) (partial funding from Canada Community Building Fund $405,766)
- Vehicle Replacements – 1 Tri-Axel Truck for Public Works, and 3 Pickup Trucks (1 for Public Works, 1 for Water/Wastewater, and 1 for Fire Department Central)
- Replacement of Playground Equipment – Newton Park
- Sidewalk (re)construction – Brunner from Road 126 to 5944 Road 119 and Sebastapol from North side of Line 29 within the settlement area
- Road Resurfacing – Railway Street in Shakespeare from Milton Street to Burns Street and Byron Street to Tannahill Drive
The township levy has increased 5.92 per cent with the residential tax rate jumping 4.82 per cent.
Every $100,000 of residential assessment will be taxed $518 versus $494 in 2023.
