The Atwood Lions are turning to council for support to revitalize the North Perth Community Centre.
The hall, first built by the Lions in 1971 has served as the heart of the community but has seen better days and showing its age facing issues such as accessibility.
Mike McCourt with the Atwood Lions approached council for a partnership to upgrade the facility and pledge $1 million for a revitalization and rebuilding plan.
McCourt says the hall is a site for many big events for locals.
“The facility is the centre of the North Perth community. Its the site of many weddings, funerals, get togethers, parties, family reunions and of course Lions events” said McCourt.
While no vote was taken, multiple councilors expressed their interest in the partnership to support the Lions
