Teachers in Ontario’s English Catholic System has voted 97 per cent in favour a strike mandate.

The OECTA says catholic teachers are united in solidarity and will do what is necessary to reach an agreement.

President Rene Jansen in de Wal says a strike vote was needed to see any movement at the bargaining table.

Negotiations will continue this month.

This follows closely behind the Elementary Teachers Federation of Ontario also voting in favour of strike action earlier this week
