North Perth council has approved a monthly occupancy fee increase and utility adjustment for Perth Meadows.
Historically a 2 per cent fee increase is done each year but was increased by 5 per cent in 2023 after there was no increase in 2022 due to the pandemic financial climate.
The original plan was to increase by just 2 per cent for 2024 but as Jeff Newel, North Perth’s Manager of Facilities says staff was made aware of some changes and an increase cost of services so the percentage increase was made to 5.
“Staff was made aware of changes to the billing for water and sewer services at Perth Meadows Suites. As a result of the change there’s an approximate $8000 increase to the service” said Newell.
Council was given two options when it came to a fee increase who ultimately settled on instead of a 5 per cent flat increase to instead direct staff to increase fees by 3.5 per cent for 2024 by taking the shortfall from reserves and in 2025 the remaining 1.5 per cent would be applied to another fee increase.
