Unifor members at General Motors have voted to ratify the pattern agreement by a vote of just over 80%.

The 3-year agreement covers more than 4,300 at the Oshawa Assembly Plant, St. Catharines Powertrain Plant, and the Woodstock Parts Distribution Centre.

The agreement follows the pattern agreement first negotiated with Ford of Canada.

It cuts the wage progression grid from 8 to 4 years, reduces the time it takes workers to reach the top rate of pay and is particularly significant for the Oshawa Assembly Plant, where the majority of workers were hired since it reopened in 2021.

It will see those with 1 to 2 years seniority have pay increased between 63 to 73 percent over the life of the agreement, wages increases of nearly 20% for production and 25 for skilled trades.

It also includes a reinstatement of the cost-of-living allowance for retirees.
