Listowel District Secondary School’s Agriculture Program is getting a boost from Farm Credit Canada.

A donation of $1000 to the program will help boost the Agriculture Specialist High Skills Major Program which get students more hands on experience and get geared into a career in agriculture.

John Kuepfer, the Lead for the schools Agriculture SHSM says this donation will allow students to expand outside of the school.

“Our students are going to have even more opportunities to get out into the community and meet with the experts and learn from them and helps us to build a profile of ag in our school and raise awareness about the great careers in the industry” said Kuepfer.

The agriculture program at the high school is directly experiential and allows students to get certifications such as the Ontario Grower Pesticide course and get more involved with co-op to gain experiences which Kuepfer says is something you won’t learn in a classroom.
