The Huron-Perth Healthcare Alliance has brought back masking at clinical areas at hospital sites of the healthcare alliance ahead of the respiratory virus season.
The move is in anticipation of an increased spread of the flu, RSV and COVID-19.
Any clinical areas of the healthcare alliance’s hospitals will be required for masks as well as recommended but not required in non clinical areas.
Erica Jensen, Manager of Quality, Patient Safety and Infection Control says they are seeing an increase in respiratory outbreaks so the decision has been made to return masking in clinical areas.
Universal masking could return to the sites based on disease activity during the respiratory season and for outbreak management.
Last week the Listowel-Wingham Hospitals Alliance announced they would bring back masking to clinical areas of their hospital sites.
