Huron East Resident Out $17,500 After Cryptocurrency Scam

Huron County OPP are warning residents to be vigilant after a victim in Huron East is out $17,500 who fell for a bitcoin scam.

On September 5th OPP were contacted from the victim who was scammed in August.

The victim says they were referred to a cryptocurrency site by a friend where they invested $7500.

The victim then invested another $10,000.

The fraudsters then froze the account of the victim and ceased all communication.

Police warn residents to never accept friend requests online from people you don’t know, to never invest money on platforms you’re unfamiliar with and to never give out your personal information.
