Hanover Police will become the next police force to adopt the CamSafe program.

CamSafe is geared at creating a database of residential and commercial security cameras to act as an extra tool for police.

Residents can register their cameras with basic contact info and camera location with other optional data such as where their cameras face.

When police use the program they will get a map of the local area and use registered addresses to view details and get contact information of the property owner.

Police still must make a request with the owner to access footage.

The use of security footage has been a valuable tool across the region which in late July saw Perth County OPP use security cameras to arrest 4 youth in a string of break and enters.
