No injuries were reported but 2 dogs and 2 cats died in a fire in Arthur on Thursday.
Wellington North Fire responded to the blaze at 3:30pm to the structure fire on Smith Street.
When fire crews arrived they found light smoke coming out of the building which was a commercial unit with a restaurant on the main floor with basement apartments below.
Firefighters from Arthur and Mount Forest both responded with everyone able to make it out of the building.
While there were no injuries 2 dogs and 2 cats lost their life due to smoke inhalation.
While the cause of the fire is still unknown, its origin was kept to the basement of the building.
